Press release
Cph ADD: Architecture and design festival in CopenhagenThe best of Copenhagen's architecture and design will be in the spotlight from May 18 - 20 when the Danish capital plays host to Copenhagen Architecture + Design Days, Cph ADD. The festival welcomes all with an interest in forms, colours and the contours of the city. For the first time, the programme will also feature the architecture of Malmø, the Swedish city across the sound. Hear about Danish architecture at the National Museum or take a look inside the National Bank designed by world renowned Danish architect Arne Jakobsen. All this and more is on the programme for Cph ADD 2007. Nearly one hundred cultural institutions, companies, organisations, networks and agencies have been invited to participate in Cph ADD arrangements. They all share a passion for the unique architecture and design that has drawn worldwide acclaim to Copenhagen in recent years. The themes and activities for many of the arrangements this year include city walking tours, open-plan design offices, this years hotspot: Ørestad, Copenhagen's newest district, as well as lectures and debates. New this year, five of the arrangements will take place in and around Malmø setting focus on the architectural achievements in that region. An important aspect of Cph ADD is that the festival gives access to places normally closed to the public. This provides festival guests with a special opportunity to experience architecture and design from a vantage point not available on an everyday basis. "Cph ADD offers the public an opportunity to experience the most exciting buildings and projects at very close range," said Martin Bender, the event manager from Wonderful Copenhagen, who is in charge of the event. Events and activities during the festival are free with a few exceptions. The promoters aim to accommodate as many guests as possible at the various events. The festival programme will list which events require registration or a participant fee. Cph ADD was held for the first time last year when about 80 arrangements were on the programme. More information will be available in April at www.cphadd.com
